How To Build A Profitable Website
52Building An Authority Site
My version of an authority site anyway...and I don't mean other folks' sites like Answers.com or Hubpages or any of that stuff, I'm talking about building your own site that will bring you hordes of traffic, oodles of affiliate sales, sign ups and adsense clicks if you wish.
It's all about the content. Make it quality, make it definitive and make sure there's a lot of it.
The sites I build in this vein are by far the best earning in my portfolio and have the most staying power in the search engines. It can take a little while to see profits but in the long run this is a steady plan for creating an ever-growing income.
An Overview...
It always helps if you're working in a market where there's money being spent. If you want the easiest and most effective method for how to make money online this is it...
Check out Clickbank, other affiliate networks and CPA networks for niche ideas.
Tip: you've seen folks advertising their products on Clickbank in the little ads on the home page, right? Well, the amount they're spending is nothing compared to what people are paying to advertise their products on CPA networks. In other words...these products sell!
You've got your niche idea, now it's time to do some keyword research.
Years ago, I would have created a page for each keyword. I would end up with a 1000+ page behemoth which harvested traffic like no tomorrow.
But not anymore. Why?
The good news is you don't need to build 'em so big (though it helps). In these days of "fat content" (thank you Dr. Andy Williams for that term) you can create a 20-30 page site full of long, in-depth articles combining your main keyword with many secondary keywords and get ranked for all kinds of keyword terms on the same page.
It's fairly easy to get ranked as long as you produce quality content.
You can do this yourself or you can just get the guys at need-an-article.net to write you a loooong article, make sure you give them keywords to include.
Now you've got a site, add an autoresponder form to every page. I tend to just have a logo in the left hand side of my header and a sign-up form tempting my visitors with a free report on the right hand side.
Once your list starts to build you can ask them what they'd like to know more about in the niche and then...you guessed it...you create a product and sell it back to them (at a special subscribers only discount of course!)
So now you have a content site, a list, your own product. Why not beef things up a little with 20-30 pages dedicated to individual affiliate product reviews.
Oh, one more thing...links! Boring and tedious they are too so...I just outsource most of this.
3 Way Links works pretty good, a certain other forum with a "services" section and some manual reciprocal link building as well as article distribution all work wonders. But in my experience, the better the content, the more folks will link to you anyway :)
This is just a brief overview of the "system" that I employ daily, but its brought me fantastic results. In fact, I have a site that's 4 years old now and the income has just grown and grown (and keeps growing).
Best thing is I only add, say, one page of content a month to it and yet... the links keep on coming.
